Last Second Heroics Lift Royals over Tetons

The Lake Region State College Royals basketball team traveled to Williston, ND to take on the Williston State College Tetons. Coming into the game Lake Region State was 12-7 (0-1) and Williston was 6-11 (0-1).

The Lake Region State College men's basketball team has never had it easy when heading out to Williston. It is a tough place to win and had been almost 10 years sense the Royals had come back with one. With that in mind and battling a four game losing streak, LRSC came to town knowing they would have to fight an uphill battle all night. It would take a team effort to get the win and that is exactly what the Royals would do. Despite trailing at the half 38-32, they would fight back. In the middle of the second Williston would still lead 45-36, LRSC would then go on an 11-0 run to take a 47-45 lead with 15 minutes left in the half. It was back and forth the rest of the way with the Royals leading 72-68 with 3 minutes left in the game. Clutch shooting down the stretch from Jordan Bolton, 14 points and Cedric Boone 25 points would carry the Royals. Some late turnovers by Lake Region would allow Williston back in the game with it all tied up at 79 with less than 8 seconds to go. Jordan Bolton would go the length of the floor and hit the game winning shot as time expired to give the Royals the 81-79 win!

Head Coach Jared Marshall said, "This was a gutsy effort by the team tonight. It was not always pretty but we found a way to get it done. Cedric and Jordan stepped up big time for us; we had great play from our bigs Harvey, James & Lamarr. Williston is never an easy place to get a win and I am proud we went out there and got one."

With the win Lake Region moves to 13-7 (1-1) on the season. They will be back in action on Sunday versus Dawson at the sportscenter.
