The Royals baseball team traveled west for their second Mon-Dak Conference road trip, taking on Miles Community College in a four-game series in Miles City, Montana.
Miles came out swinging in game one, plating three runs in the first inning and continuing their offensive surge with two runs in the third and three more in the fourth, highlighted by a three-run home run. The Royals responded with one run in the fifth before Miles added two more. A flurry of walks and singles sparked a six-run sixth inning for the Royals, but the comeback fell short as they trailed 10–7 heading into the seventh and were retired in order. Logan Dearborn went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Vinny Fiorentino finished 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Game two on Saturday started slowly, with Miles holding a 2–0 lead after two innings. The Royals cut into the deficit in the third on a sacrifice fly by Fiorentino that scored Jax Yakiwchuk. However, Miles erupted for six runs in the bottom half, including a two-run homer, to take control. Both teams added runs late, but the Royals fell 13–3. Trasen Beck went 2-for-2, and Dearborn added a triple in a 1-for-3 performance.
In Sunday's opener, Miles' bats stayed hot, scoring eight runs in the first four innings. Beau Brodina provided the Royals' lone highlight with a solo home run in the third, but the team dropped the game 12–1.
The Royals showed early promise in the series finale, taking a 2–1 lead after the first inning as Brodina reached on an error and Lucas Lyons launched a home run. However, that would be the Royals' final scoring, as Miles exploded for 14 runs over the next five innings to secure a 14–2 victory.
The Royals were swept in the four-game series and will look to rebound on the road in Fargo against North Dakota State College of Science on Wednesday.
