The Royals baseball team delivered a dominant performance Saturday, cruising past Dakota College at Bottineau with a 12–2 win in a cold-weather matchup.
The Royals wasted no time getting going, erupting for 10 runs across the first two innings. In the opening frame, they capitalized on patience and contact—drawing two walks and collecting four singles from Beau Brodina, Logan Dearborn, Dane Hagler, and Carson Beaudin to build early momentum.
They kept the pressure on in the second inning. Lucas Lyons provided the highlight with a three-RBI inside-the-park home run, sparking the offense even further. Gabe McKinney followed with a double, and Beaudin added another RBI single as the Royals stretched their lead to 10–1.
After a quieter stretch, the Jacks managed to score once in the fifth inning, making it 10–2. But the Royals quickly closed things out in the bottom half. A walk, a single, and an error loaded the bases, and Brodina delivered the finishing blow with a two-run double to secure the 12–2 run-rule victory.
At the plate, Dearborn and Beaudin each went 2-for-3, while Lyons' inside-the-park homer stood out as the game's biggest swing. On the mound, Hunter Remmick was in control throughout, tossing a complete game while allowing just four hits and one earned run.
The Royals will return to action Wednesday when they host the UND club team for Sophomore Night.
