Royals Season Ends in Sub-Region Play

The Royals offense started slowly in game one as the Pioneers erupted early, scoring five runs in both the first and second innings before adding another in the third to take an 11-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
The Royals finally broke through offensively in the fourth. Logan Dearborn doubled to right field before Jax Yakiwchuk followed with an RBI single to put the Royals on the board. Dayten Christensen later tripled to right field, and a throwing error by the Pioneers allowed two more runs to score as the Royals cut the deficit to 11-3.
However, the Pioneers continued to swing hot bats in the bottom of the fourth inning, plating eight runs on a flurry of hits that included a two-run home run. Miles Community College extended its lead to 19-3 heading into the fifth inning, and the Royals were unable to mount a comeback, falling by a final score of 19-3.
Yakiwchuk led the Royals in game one, finishing 2-for-2 with a double.
The second game of the series began just 30 minutes after the opener concluded, and the Pioneers offense stayed red hot. Miles Community College scored four runs in the first inning and added two more in the second to take a 6-0 advantage.
The Royals answered with a run in the third after Beau Brodina drew a walk and Lucas Lyons delivered an RBI single. Heading into the bottom of the third, the Royals trailed 6-1.
The Pioneers then broke the game open with a massive 13-run third inning to build a 19-1 lead. They added two more runs in the fourth, sending the Royals into the final inning trailing 21-1.
Despite the deficit, the Royals continued to battle offensively in the fifth inning, scoring five runs on two singles to close the gap. The rally was not enough, however, as the Royals fell 21-6.
Lyons led the Royals in game two, going 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.
The Royals' season came to an end with a final overall record of 12-37.
