Lady Royals Sweep Williston

The Lake Region State College Lady Royals Softball team played a four game series over two days against the Williston State College Tetons.

The first two games were played in Devils Lake, ND on April 13th, 2019

Game 1

The Royals would get twelve hits jumping out to an early 3-1 lead after the first inning. The Tetons would tie it up in the second but a three run third inning and a four run sixth inning would put the game away for Lake Region. They were led by Tyra Robertson and Sadie Schilling with three hits each. Lexi Davis would get the win on the pitchers mound and drive in two RBI's. The final LRSC 10 WSC 4.

Game 2 8-0

The second game was as good of a pitching game you could hope for as a coach. Tehani Yamamoto was dealing from the get go. She allowed zero runs on four hits in the win. The Royals, while not their most explosive offensive game, provided enough offense to get the win. Samantha Shumway had three hits, Emily Wininger drove in three RBI's. The final LRSC 8 WSC 0.

The second two games were played in Williston, ND on April 14th, 2019

Game 3 10-9

Despite opening up a 6-0 lead with a big second inning. Williston State continued to chip away at the Royals lead until they tied it up and forced extra innings. Lake Region would drive in one run in the eight inning, to take the lead. Madison Foss would shut down the Tetons in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win for the Royals. Lake Region had thirteen hits, led by Samantha Shumway with three. Sadie Schilling knocked one out of the park and drove in five RIB's throughout the game. The final LRSC 10 WSC 9. 

Game 4 12-4

Lake Region would jumpo out to a big 9-0 lead after two innnings and never looked back on their way to victory. Samantha Shumway racked up four hits. Emily Wininger and Tehani Yamamoto each drove in three RBI's. Tehani Yamamoto would get the win on the mound. The final LRSC 12 WSC 4.

Head Coach Kory Boehmer said, "What an exciting weekend for our team. We did a lot of good things out there and still have things that we need to work on. We were pushed, challenged all weekend and had different players step up and help us every game. I am excited to see how this helps us moving forward."
