The Lake Region State College Lady Royals traveled to Glendive, MT this weekend to take on Dawson CC in a MonDak Conference game.
LRSC found themselves trailing 20-17 after the 1st quarter but a late run in the second game them a 43-40 lead heading into halftime. Kayla Byrne had another big game off the bench for Lake Region. She would score 21pts on 5-13 shooting from 3. Steph Miller would put up 16pts and Jadyn Pollert would score 12pts notch 5rebs and dish out 5asts.
Head Coach Danny Mertens had this to say after the game, "Any time you can get a road win in the conference, you will take it. We had a strong 2nd and 3rd quarter that helped us get the win. I would have liked to have seen us finish a little stronger and not let them climb back into the game at the end. Free throws have been big for us these first two conference games. We need to continue to get to the line and control the game in that aspect." The Royals would go 20-24 from the free throw line during the game.
With the win LRSC moves to 12-7 (2-0) on the season. Next up is Miles CC at home on Wednesday night.
